Construction and housing declines in China, along with reformulation in response to high prices and limited availability, have now created an oversupply of zircon. 

While the largest producers are cutting production and idling mining operations, the zircon market is temporarily flooded with inventory. As a result, zircon sand and flour costs are dropping and customers can expect to pay less for zircon coatings in 2013.
